Y esterday we had the first day of the Promoting Discoverability of African Scholarship workshop in Nariboi, Keyna, organised by the OpenUCT Initiative in collaboration with the Carnegie Corporation of New York. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet colleagues from different countries (Kenya, Senegal, Ghana, South Africa, USA…) doing incredibly exciting research and scholarly communications work.

In our first session of Libraries and Publishing in an Information Society last Friday I hoped to encourage some collective brainstorming around the meaning and evolution of “publishing” by considering some examples from rock and roll as a particular form of disruptive innovation.

A fter more than a month without updating this blog I am back. June was intense and July has been very busy. On different posts I’ll try to fill in the gaps. In June I visited Mexico and had the immense honour to give a lecture at my alma mater on open access, Creative Commons licenses and copyright.
