Yesterday, the Critical Public Health Network announced in a press release a mass resignation of the Taylor & Francis publication Critical Public Health ’s editorial board. The board cited “fundamentally different perspectives” on the process and purpose of scholarly publishing.

On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the Public Knowledge Project is pleased to announce the recent release of its community-driven, research-based Open Journal Systems (OJS), Open Monograph Press (OMP), and Open Preprint Systems (OPS). OJS, OMP, and OPS are free and open-source software (FOSS) for independent scholarly journal, press, and preprint publishing.

PKP partner TIB in Germany, is asking academic libraries to collectively fund seven open access journals from quantum physics, computer science, and mathematics in order to help these journals adhere to high publishing standards and to publish without author fees. PKP supports this approach and encourages those interested to answer the call for libraries to participate in the KOALA funding round by contacting TIB.
