We are seeking volunteer documentation translators to translate PKP’s documentation. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our volunteers, PKP’s software has been translated into 45+ different languages. Our user base is global, and we want to continually improve the accessibility of our tools for academic publishing communities worldwide.

We’ve all come across broken hyperlinks online which cause content to be renamed, moved, or deleted from a website. These broken links can range from inconvenient to problematic, especially when it impacts the discoverability of important research and other documents.

The Public Knowledge Project (PKP) is committed to providing a user experience that is accessible to the widest possible audience. To achieve this, a new OJS Default Theme was developed by PKP for OJS 3.3 and higher, and was audited for accessibility barriers.

The Supreme Court of Canada has issued an important decision in the longstanding dispute between the collective society Access Copyright and York University over paying royalties on course readings. Although the high court did not squarely address the practical effects of the ruling, it affirmed that Access Copyright’s tariffs are not mandatory and that fair dealing can apply in such circumstances.

We would like to invite the community to help us with these tests. We have received 3 quick tests to help us assess their feasibility. Each link is an independent interface. Please test each link separately.

With the pandemic, 2020 presented challenges to everyone, including scholars, publishers, and educational institutions. Despite these challenges, the scholarly community continued to publish important research and broaden the impact of their work. In fact, shrinking institutional budgets inspired renewed interest in open access publishing and supporting open scholarly infrastructure.

OJS supports various galley formats; these are the final publication-ready files that journals prepare for readers and publish on the article page. These formats include PDF, HTML, XML and ePub. OJS also supports multimedia formats like MP3 and videos. PDF is the most common galley format that journals publish. It is the easiest to convert and is preferred as it closely resembles a printed page.

The Public Knowledge Project’s (PKP) 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held Friday, June 18, 2020 from 9:00AM-10:00AM PDT. This is a free, online event open to everyone. This has been a year of tremendous change. Join the PKP team as we reflect on the past year and what it means for PKP’s present and future.

Today we celebrate the Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) and the progress that PKP and the OJS community have made towards making scholarly publishing more accessible – and thus open for all.

PKP is delighted to announce, in collaboration with the Library Publishing Coalition (LPC), the launch of a new series of courses in PKP School: Getting Started in Library Publishing . This four-course series is adapted from the LPC’s Library Publishing Curriculum, which originally launched in Google Drive in 2018 as a suite of synchronous
