The Public Knowledge Project’s most widely used software, Open Journal Systems (OJS), is the backbone of over 34,000 journals worldwide, amounting to over 8 million published articles. The OA Diamond Journals Study shows estimates of OJS being used by 60% of the sampled journals.

This post on a new partnership with Sachsenkonsortium is part of the inaugural issue of PKP’s Newsletter, “Archipelago”. The Public Knowledge Project is excited to announce our recent Development Partnership with Sachsenkonsortium. Through a signed memorandum of understanding (MOU), we are working together to advance the functionality of open peer review within PKP software.

PKP invites the community to join its Software Development Update webinar on February 5th, 2024, at 8 AM PST. This event will be of interest to Strategic Partners, Development Partners, Financial Contributors, and Community Contributors, as well as the wider community interested in, or using, PKP’s free and open source software (FOSS) for independent scholarly publishing.

The highly anticipated Indonesia ORCiD OJS User Community meeting was held on December 13th (PST) / 14th (WIB), 2023. The recap and recording is now available. The Public Knowledge Project’s most widely used software, Open Journal Systems (OJS), is often used for open access publishing, and is interoperable with ORCID.

Student Journal Forum registration is now open for students interested in or involved in scholarly publishing. The event is free, happening February 20 – 22, 2024. Registration is now open for the Student Journal Forum 2024, February 20 – 22, 2024.

Among PKP’s events in 2023 was the PKP Sprint, hosted by one of our partners, TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology, in Hannover, Germany. Sprints involve PKP community members joining diverse groups to work on PKP software and support.
