2021 was yet another year of the unexpected as the world continues to grapple with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is in times like these that communities pull together to help each other and look for a better future. As such, our year-end-post includes thoughts and perspectives from our members and team around the world.
Since our founding in 2009, DataCite’s strategy has been led by our community of members and partners around the world. We work with organisations globally to help identify, find, cite, connect, and use research. Our community consists of stakeholders throughout the research lifecycle, including researchers and organisations identifying and citing research resource types.
During 2021, building on our core values, our community went through a strategic visioning process to understand current perspectives of DataCite, how we can thrive in the future, and what roadblocks might get in the way of achieving our vision. This strategic plan is an output of the process and provides the blueprint for achieving our vision and mission by aligning with the needs of the DataCite community. The plan continues to support our statutory charitable purpose as a not-for-profit organisation.
