Hippopotamus, or simply hippo, is a large semiaquatic mammal that is native to sub-Saharan Africa. It is one of the largest land mammals on the African continent, and despite their size, they are excellent swimmers and can stay submerged for up to five minutes. Hippos have a barrel-shaped body, with short legs and a large head.
