Birds use a variety of cues to navigate during migration, including celestial cues, geomagnetic cues, and visual cues. One of the most important cues for many bird species is the position of the sun and stars. Birds can use the position of the sun and stars to determine their direction of travel, and they may also be able to detect changes in the angle of the sun and the length of the day to determine their latitude.
