Appalachian History What happened at Pound Gap On the night of November 29–30, 1927, a white mob seized Leonard Woods, a Black coal miner from Jenkins, Kentucky, from the Letcher County jail in Whitesburg. They drove him to Pound Gap on the Kentucky–Virginia line and killed him there.
🔗Why we created Computo The idea of Computo was born out of a desire to foster a deeper scientific understanding as well as a need to address several challenges in the current scientific publishing landscape, especially within statistics and machine learning.
I am currently preparing for the courses I teach in term 2 and one of my objectives this year is to create course websites 1 with course material that the students can access but that can also be made available publicly in the hope that they might be useful to someone 2 . It is also an opportunity to move away from a workflow that discourages improvement and makes editing material cumbersome.
TL;DR. Metadata Manager will be retired at the end of 2025.

It is with great excitement that we release DeepForest 2.0! This is the first major release since the project took shape in its current form. The codebase has been updated to match modern machine learning workflows, including better command line tools, configurations and package management.
I’ve dabbled a bit with napari – the python-based image viewer – but never needed to use it seriously. I had a real use case so I thought I’d write up the process of how I got going with napari, in case it helps others.
